KALONA
Mid-Prairie started their softball season with an 8-5 loss to No. 3 ranked Regina on Thursday, May 23.
But the Golden Hawks bounced back the next night, toppling Mount Pleasant with an offensive showcase, winning 16-4 on Friday, May 24.
Juniors Dakota Mitchell and Brenna Jehle wasted no time. Mitchell singled, stealing second base. Jehle then knocked a two-run homer. From there, the Hawks brought home two more runs in the bottom of the first.
Mount Pleasant would tie it at four in the top of the second, making the Hawks sweat early.
But the Hawks completely locked down from there, preventing any Panthers from crossing home plate, even when the Panthers loaded the bases in the top of the fourth.
The Hawks scored 12 more runs to win it 16-4.
