Mid-Prairie’s high school wrestling team hosted Cardinal of Eldon and BGM-HLV in a double dual meet, Nov. 30.

Cardinal of Eldon outscored Mid-Prairie 72-6, and BGM-HLV defeated Mid-Prairie 57-16.

Mid-Prairie Middle School Wrestling results from Nov. 29 and Dec. 1

The Golden Hawks received wins from several wrestlers, Nov. 19 against Wilton.

The following wrestlers grabbed a win: Clayton Stephenson over Brian Crock of Tipton by fall, Drew Kreman over Trevor Anderson of Tipton by fall, Tony Kiefer over Randy Noggle of Wilton by a score of 7-3, and Curtis Stephenson over Nick Yearsom of Tipton by a score of 4-2.

This is the third time that M-P has run into Wilton this year.

Head coach Doug Koerperich said, “They (Wilton) have a good program with a lot of kids being out, having a tough practice room is very beneficial for this sport. The more kids that are out the more competitive and tough the practice becomes.”

According to coach Koerperich, in our third meeting they wrestled much better.

“Drew Kreman lost a tough match in the final seconds of his match against Chad Beatty of Wilton 5-6. Cody Young, a new comer to our practice room, has been wrestling well, he ran out of gas late in his match and was defeated 5-9.”

“The seventh graders have been wrestling well, if they keep at it they are going to mold into an extremely good team.”

The Golden Hawks took on Mt. Vernon and West Liberty at Mid-Prairie, Dec. 1.

Coming up with wins for Mid-Prairie were Clayton Stephenson over Geoff Glenn of Mt. Vernon by fall, Cody Young over Tatte Clause of Mt. Vernon by fall in 2:16 and a second victory over Tony Frausio of West Liberty 7-4, Curtis Stephenson over Matt Brace of Mt. Vernon 10-1, Drew Kreman over Trevor Arnold of Mt. Vernon 11-3 also a second win by Drew over Reuben Zacharak of Mt. Vernon by fall in 1:48.

Craig Kreman and Mike McCall both were injured.
