Miller's 3-point surge leads Panthers to fifth straight win


Pathway traveled to Tri-State on Friday, January 7 looking for its fifth win in a row.

The Panthers led 42-25 in the third quarter before Tri-State pulled within eight points with three minutes left to play. Jackson Gehman responded with a drive and dish to Blayde Lybarger for a tough basket to put the lead back to 10 and Pathway was able to finish with a 49-41 win.  

Gehman finished with eight points, five assists and four steals. 

"We are playing together offensively and I thought our defensive intensity picked up tonight,” Pathway coach Aaron Gingerich said. “It was a good win in a tough road environment.  Our guys played with poise down the stretch."

The Panthers trailed 11-6 early in the game before going on a 9-0 run to close the quarter with a 15-11 advantage.  Tanner Miller picked up where he left off the night before, hitting four first-half 3-pointers, helping Pathway to a 34-22 halftime lead.  

MIller, who made eight 3-pointers the night before, finished with a team-high 20 points. Micah Hostetler scored 11, Blayde Lybarger scored six and Lucas Yutzy rounded out the scoring with a pair of baskets.  Lybarger pulled down a team high 12 rebounds.  Hostetler had eight boards and Yutzy had seven.  

The Panthers improve to 5-1 in conference play with a record of 7-4 overall. 

PCS 67, Morningstar 31

Pathway continued conference play Thursday with a 67-31 win over Morning Star Academy.

Led by seven first-half Tanner Miller 3-pointers, the Panthers were able to distance themselves early, leading 14-2 after a quarter and 38-16 at the half.  Jackson Gehman scored 12 of his 16 in the third period as Pathway was able to extend their lead to 57-23 after three quarters. 

Tanner Miller led the Panther scoring finishing with 26 points.  Jackson Gehman finished with 16 points including two triples.  Blayde Lybarger scored 10, Micah Hostetler scored eight, Lucas Yutzy finished with four, and Asher Stutzman rounded out the scoring with a trey.  

Yutzy and Hostetler each pulled down a team high seven rebounds.  Lybarger and Miller both finished with six rebounds.  Gehman had a team high four steals.  Hostetler, Yutzy, and Gehman each had three assists.
