MPEA presents awards

Neil Knobloch, Voyce Oswald and Rose Dillard were honored by the Mid-Prairie Education Association (MPEA) at its reception Wednesday, May 20, in the Mid-Prairie Middle School.

Knobloch, who is leaving the district to do doctoral studies and to teach at Ohio State University, was named Teacher of the Year.

Voyce Oswald, a classroom aide at Washington Township Elementary School, was named the Support Person of the Year.

Former Superintendent and former Mid-Prairie Board of Education member Rose Dillard was named Friend of Education. Dillard was unable to attend the program.

The MPEA also recognized those who left the district this year: Cindy Bontrager, Jane Duvall, Melody Hammes, Chris Huston, Ruby Kern, Brad Marner, Jeff Neberman, Christy Price and Leslie Slaubaugh.

Recognition also was given to those who left at the end of the academic year: Jayne Bausch, Karissa Brown, Richard Grimm, Neil Knobloch, Laura Marquis, Vicky Passmore, Sandi Sears, Rita Jean Stumpf and Christy Tiffany.

A clock was presented to retiring teacher Norma Wright and clocks also were given to retiring support staff members Mary Bender, Cecil Christner, Shirley King, Joe Saltzman and Bob Teets.

MPEA officers for 1999-2000 are Pat Hancock, president, Valli Kempf, vice-president, Kim Juilfs, secretary and Lynda Wilson, treasurer.
