In their first game of the season, the Mid-Prairie ninth grade boys defeated Clear Creek-Amana, 49-41, Dec. 3.
“It was a typical first game. We were a little rusty, but I was pleased with our guard play,” said head coach Pete Cavanagh.
Clear Creek-Amana led 12-4 early in the first quarter but M-P fought back and took a 27-23 lead at half.
“We played great defense the second half, and they only scored 18 points in the second half. We blocked a lot of shots and stole the ball 16 times.”
Leading the Hawk attack was Tyler Griffith with 18 points, seven assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Tyler Grout followed with 11 points while Justin Swartzendruber added 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
