Parents or guardians considering the use of the open enrollment option to enroll their child/children in another public school district in Iowa should note:
•January 1 is the last date for regular open enrollment requests for the 2000-01 academic year
•June 30 is the last date for open enrollment requests for entering kindergarten students and those students who fall under the “good cause” definition for the 2000-01 academic year.
Parents or guardians of open enrolled students whose income falls below 160 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for transportation assistance.
Parents and guardians should be aware that open enrollment may result in loss of athletic eligibility for the student.
