Twenty-one members were present at the Optimist meeting Thursday, October 21, and J.D. Boyd was the Lucky Optimist. Mr. Boyd bought pie in honor of his wedding anniversary. Gaye VanWinkle was present as a guest. Phil Marner opened the meeting and Reverend Mike Orthel offered thanks for the meal.
It was announced that Duane E. Yoder is hospitalized.
A work session was held and each group gave a report about plans for the coming year. Committees reporting were Community Service, Fellowship, Finance, Youth Activities and New Club Building.
The annual Halloween Party is Thursday, October 28, at 7 p.m. in the B-4 Building. It follows the meal in the Townhouse.
There will be cookie decorating for small children, games and guessing contests and costume judging in seven classes, from toddler to 6th grade. Each contestant will receive a prize. An Optimist adult costume contest will be held at the end of the evening.
October 30 is Clean the Ditch at 7 a.m. Details about the Youth Banquet in November will be given at a later date.
