There were 14 members present for the meeting Thursday, July 8. Warren Olson was the Lucky Optimist, twice in the past several weeks.
The blood drive was a success with 110 units of blood collected.
Emil Schlaubaugh introduced Tom Jepson, CEO Farmers Savings Bank, as the guest speaker. Tom came to Kalona in 1991. He spoke about the bank changing its name to Freedom Security Bank after 100 years as Farmers Savings Bank. He also told members about how commercial businesses are arranging more and more financial services for their customers. He also said that the bank will have a convenient location in Coralville and Mary Ann Schlaubaugh will transfer to the new facility.
He emphasized that the safest place for your money is in the bank, despite all the talk about Y2K.
This week, Larry Moeller will have the program.
