Oren H. Jones, 81, of Wellman died Monday, June 28, 1999, in Parkview Manor, Wellman, following a short illness.

Services were Thursday, July 1, in Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona, with the Reverend David L. Yoder officiating. Burial was in the McArtor Cemetery near Wellman.

Born August 13, 1917, near Wellman, he was the son of Clyde and Kate (Wagner) Jones. He attended rural Popham School and Parnell High School. Mr. Jones served in the United States Army during World War II.

He married Luva L. Yoder February 22, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. The couple lived near Wellman until moving to West Branch in 1965 and then to Washington in 1980.

Mr. Jones was a park ranger for 14 years and also farmed. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherry and Myron Luers of Keota, Phyllis and Dennis Huston of Wyoming and Pamela Burke of Washington; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Rhonda Jones of Lovington, New Mexico; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Otha Jones of Kalona, Vir Jones of Paradise, California, Von Jones of Mesa, Arizona, and Nyle Jones of Kalona; and one sister, Louise Sohm of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A general memorial fund has been established.
