WELLMAN, KALONA
In early 2023, the Mid-Prairie facilities committee determined improved parking was a top concern for the district’s two elementary schools, East, in Kalona, and West, in Wellman. After the passing of a $8.7 million bond referendum in Nov. 2023, those plans moved forward, and today construction work at the two schools is underway.
At both East and West Elementaries, paving work currently in progress will increase student safety and improve traffic flow for pickups and drop-offs by busses and parents. Adequate parking will also be provided for staff and visitors.
Work is expected to be completed at both schools in time for the start of the 2024 school year.
