Paul W. Miller was born March 21, 1922, near Wellman, Iowa, the son of Menno and Barbara (Swartzendruber) Miller. He attended Franklin rural school. On Feb. 6, 1944, he was united in marriage to Leta L. Brenneman at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. During WWII, they spent time in Civilian Public Service in Oregon and Maryland. They made their home in rural Wellman on the farm where he grew up.

Paul was a life-long farmer, and for many years ran Mill-Der Welders with neighbor Ray Yoder. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized. He was a member of the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church, where he served as a trustee, and as cemetery sexton for 48 years.

Paul enjoyed spending time playing games and laughing with his friends and family, and in retirement, became proficient in shuffleboard with daily games in both Florida and Wellman. He enjoyed tending to and expanding the fruit orchard his father planted, always having apples to hand out to those fortunate enough to be sitting nearby at IMS basketball games.

He was active in the community, serving for many years on the boards of Pleasantview Home, IMS, and Farmers Electric. Paul died on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at his home in Wellman at the age of 100 years.
