Philip F. Sojka, 73, of Riverside, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home in Riverside.  Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. following the visitation.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Following the committal service a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Center.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Riverside Fire and Rescue or the Mt. Philip Fredrick Sojka was born April 23, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Vincent James and Anita Marie (Frank) Sojka.  He was a 1970 graduate of Highland High School.  He served with the United States Army Reserve for six years.  Philip worked for Kwik-Way Manufacturing in Marion as a machinist and then the Proctor and Gamble warehouse in West Branch.  He was baptized Catholic and loved sports.  He played football and basketball in high school, followed his nieces and nephews throughout their athletic careers and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.  Philip loved to spend time with his family.

Philip will be deeply missed by his brothers: Charles Sojka of Riverside, John (Joan) Sojka of Riverside, Gregory (Nancy) Sojka of Riverside and Joseph (Julie) Sojka of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Jacob Lee Sojka; and sister-in-law: Colleen Sojka.
