The Highland School Board held a special meeting on May 23 to discuss
the finalization of dates for playground improvement at Highland Elementary School in Riverside.
The board approved a contract with MMS Consultants of Iowa City for the development of an asphalt playground and turf playground. The board will host a public hearing during its next regularly scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. June 13, when playground designs and construction costs will be presented.
The board is seeking to elect a new board member for the district 5 seat, which was previously held by Kathy Butler.
“Whoever we appoint, they will finish out the term until November of 2023 and then
the position will be open again,” Superintendent Ken Crawford said.
Highland High School held its graduation ceremony May 22. All students received their diplomas and met their graduation credit requirements.
