Pleasantview and the Community: Meeting Needs Together

As Director of Advancement at Pleasantview, what is my job?

Simply put, my focus is dual: a) I care deeply about Pleasantview as “a welcoming faith-based community that supports healthy living and quality of life” (Mission Statement)…and b) I appreciate you as our community.

My goal is to merge the two, specifically by encouraging you to show your support with a charitable contribution so that Pleasantview can continue carrying out its mission.

In other words, you have interests – hopefully those interests include Pleasantview – and I would like to help match your interests and your capabilities with our needs.

I suppose that is a convoluted way of asking you for money!

We DO have needs at Pleasantview, most tangibly the need for expanded services and facilities to offer better care.

You will soon see construction and renovation efforts underway to provide Memory Care services to better care for our residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. You will also note that Assisted Living space will be created for those persons needing care between Independent Living and full nursing care.

Other notable changes will include a relocated commercial kitchen, a new stand-alone Friendship/Community Center, new therapy space, a bistro, and six additional rooms for skilled care – services to those requiring short-term rehabilitative care.

All for the purpose of helping our residents live more fully!

Sadly, we again are not holding our annual Benefit Sale…but the needs don’t just end.

To get into the weeds a bit more, our immediate needs include funds to provide armoires and dressers and other in-room furnishings for our 50 new units of residence. Proceeds from the Benefit would have gone toward these purchases had the event been held.

So I invite you to please support Pleasantview with a monetary gift. You can send a check directly, to my attention at 811 3rd St., Kalona and payable to ‘Pleasantview.’

You can also go online at www.pvkalona.com; scroll down to the yellow ‘Donate’ tab; and follow the instructions, selecting ‘Benefit Sale’ where prompted.

New this year is the option of using Venmo: @Pleasantview-Kalona (please bypass the 4-digit number request).

We will miss not gathering in person on November 5-6 – hopefully next year! In the meantime, you can still make a difference, and we thank you for helping us assure that “Pleasantview will be the place of choice to live and work.” (Vision Statement)

I look forward to hearing from you!
