After a three-year absence, the 15th annual Purple Martin Workshop/Seminar will return to Kalona on March 25. Coffee and donuts will be available at 8 a.m., and the workshop will begin at 9 a.m. at the CAM Iowa Clothing Center, 1005 Nutmeg Ave, Kalona.
Lunch will be provided, and participants can look forward to door prizes and an auction. Free will offerings to the CAM Clothing Center are appreciated.
Speakers include Bruce Hochstedler of Wellman, who will speak on some very strange things he found in his martin nests; Ivan Ray Miller of Jamesport, MO, who will discuss creating bird habitat; Ben Rowald of Iowa City who will share about his work to boost Eastern bluebird numbers on the Kent Park Trail; and Tim Gedler of West Des Moines, who will cover everything you need to know about purple martins.
