Services were Sunday, June 6, in East Union Mennonite Church, rural Kalona, with the Reverend Jay Miiller officiating. Burial was in Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, rural Wellman.

Born May 7, 1909, near Kalona in Johnson County, he was the son of Abraham F. and Anne (Mueller) Troyer.

Raymon G. Troyer, 90, formerly of Kalona, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in Parkview Manor, Wellman, following a sudden illness.

Services were Sunday, June 6, in East Union Mennonite Church, rural Kalona, with the Reverend Jay Miiller officiating. Burial was in Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, rural Wellman.

Born May 7, 1909, near Kalona in Johnson County, he was the son of Abraham F. and Anne (Mueller) Troyer.

He attended Brush #8 school in rural Johnson County. Mr. Troyer married Ethel Yoder in Parnell June 28, 1936. He farmed until retirement.

He was a member of East Union Church where he taught Sunday School, Johnson County Sheep and Wool Growers, Iowa Turkey Growers and served on the board of directors of Kalona Co-op Telephone Company for 32 years. He also was instrumental in founding the Welkona Turkey Company.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Phil Keim, Syracuse, Indiana; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gene and Louise Troyer, Willmar, Minnesota, Gilbert and Sue Troyer and Dale and Anne Troyer, all of Kalona, and David Troyer and his friend, Judy, of Wellman; one sister, Dorothy Martin of Wellman; two brothers, Orville Troyer of Kalona and Willis Troyer of Wayland, and eight grandchildren, Michael Keim, Heidi Troyer, Heather Troyer, Julian Troyer, Alena Troyer, Taylor Troyer, Abe Troyer and Emma Troyer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, November 21, 1998, an infant son, two sisters, Alma Troyer and Barbara Yoder, and three brothers, Chris Troyer, Charlie Troyer, and Ezra Troyer.

Memorials may be made to East Union Mennonite Church sound system or Johnson County Sheep & Wool Growers Association.
