Michelle Eimen, daughter of Marvin and Judy Eimen of Frytown, was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine during commencement ceremonies in Hancher Auditorium May 14.
Following completion of the National Residency Matching Program, Dr. Eimen was selected to continue her medical training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and July 1 will start a five-year residency in general surgery.
While in medical school, Eimen was active in Students Teaching AIDS to Students (S.T.A.T.) and participated in research projects within the Departments of Family Practice and Surgery, among other activities.
A 1990 graduate of Mid-Prairie High School, Eimen received a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology from the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts, graduating “with distinction and honors.”
She is also the granddaughter of Helen Shalla Cox and the late Everett (Bud) Cox and of Florence Eimen and the late Ernie Eimen.
