Richard D. Adams, 62, of Iowa City, passed from this life Friday, June 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital. He has been cremated and a celebration of his life will be held in the fall at Coach’s Corner in Iowa City. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family. Richard Dean Adams was born Jan. 29, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Richard D. and Judith Rae (Dawson) Adams. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1979. Rich worked at the University of Iowa Hospital for 42 years, retiring in July of 2022. On Oct. 10, 2008, he was united in marriage to Margaret (Wyman) Simons in Coralville. Rich was a 32-year member of the Commemorative Air Force, the Tora Tora Tora Air Show Group and former member of the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona, where he was a bell ringer in his youth. He volunteered at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce booth at the Iowa State Fair for 19 years and enjoyed riding mini RAGBRAI. Rich loved air shows, his cats, and White Sox baseball.
Survivors include his wife: Margaret of Iowa City; two children: Robert Simons of Lincoln, Nebraska and Rachel Simons (Marcus Holloway) of Eugene, Oregon; sister: Joni (Everett) Currier of Shueyville; brother: Steven Adams of Rock Island, Illinois; and father and mother-in-law: Robert and Toni Wyman of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
Preceding Rich in death were his parents.
