RIVERSIDE
The Riverside City Council agreed to an increase of about 10% for police protection for Fiscal Year 2026.
The Council, during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, approved a new one-year contract with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department at a rate of $284,597.
The city is paying an annual fee of $258,572 in the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.
The 28E agreement was approved by the Washington County Board of Supervisors and Sheriff Jared Schneider last week.
Cherry Lane extension
Work on the Cherry Lane extension project is scheduled to begin June 2, after school is let out for the year.
A preconstruction meeting was held Monday.
The project will extend Cherry Lane, south of Highland Elementary, to improve traffic flow and safety around the school.
Jones Contracting Corp., of West Point, is the contractor for the $247,887 project. The road extension is projected to be completed over the summer.
Council Action
The Council approved the spring budget amendment, following a public hearing that was held Monday.
The Council approved a pay request of $6,792.50 to WRH, Inc., for work completed on the city’s wastewater treatment plant UV disinfection system.
