The two victims who perished in the Jan. 8 fire in Riverside have been identified as Henry Downer, 79, and Noel Edmond Downer, 53. Both men were living at 1047 Vine Ave. at the time of the fire.
At approximately 12:55 a.m. on Jan. 8, the Washington County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the fire and that there were two occupants inside. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, the house was fully engulfed in fire with flames coming out through the roof.
Riverside Fire Department Chief Chad Smothers said the first victim was found during a search of the first-floor bedroom and the second was found in the basement under the collapsed first floor.
The fire is still under investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
