Highway 22 in Riverside is scheduled to be cut down to one lane temporarily, beginning as early as this week. Work on a storm sewer system alongside Highway 22 is causing the lane closure. It is part of a $3 million water main project now underway in Riverside.
Traffic lights will be installed to the east and west of the work downtown so that vehicles can travel along Highway 22 in one lane. Brian Boelk, a civil engineer with Axiom Consultants of Iowa City, said the lane closure should last about two weeks.
The lane closure is being coordinated with the Iowa Department of Transportation.
