Sarah Lemira Collett was born Oct. 20, 1918, near Batavia, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Sarah (Hewitt) Jameson.  She attended school at Cantril and Hillsboro, then graduated from Birmingham High School in 1938.  Lemira was united in marriage to Raymond Collett April 8, 1939, in Fairfield, Iowa.  After their marriage they moved east of Williamsburg for a number of years until moving to Williamsburg in 1946. 

Lemira was a seamstress, she was known for replacing zippers, making bridesmaids and wedding dresses and outfits for the Williamsburg Swing Choir.  She enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working the garden and in her flower beds. 

Lemira was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she had been active in Women’s Guild and quilting.  

Sarah passed away at her home on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at the age of 102.

She is survived by two daughters: Evelyn Hudson of Wellman and Wanda Van Dee of Marion; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Alice Hootman of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband; a daughter: Beverly Van Dee; two sisters: Virgina Jameson and Doris Nidey; four brothers: John Jameson, Robert Jameson, Richard Jameson and Rex Jameson; two grandsons: Daniel Van Dee and Bradley Van Dee; a great-grandson: Joshua Dixon; and three sons-in-law: Ray Hudson, Michael Van Dee and Edward Van Dee.
Celebration of life service was held Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.  Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Women’s Guild or Essence of Life Hospice.
