A dual against two teams excelling in conference play, Highland girls golf went on the road for a pivotal Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown against Columbus.
Keeping their undefeated record intact, the Huskies (20-0, SEISC 7-0) picked up a 194-218 victory over the Wildcats (10-4, 6-2) at the Cedarcrest Country Club last Thursday.
In the win, Highland was led by third year golfers Emersyn Schultz and Adisyn Prottsman. Excelling in their junior years, Schultz shot 41 to claim medalist honors and Adisyn Prottsman ended with 46 to earn runner-up medalist honors.
For Columbus they were led by senior Aracely Garza who placed third with 52.
The lone senior on the team, Adeline Krotz, also impressed for Highland by tying for fourth place with 54. Not too far behind to round out the final team score was freshman teammate Joslyn Prottsman who shot 56 to tie for sixth place.
The final two Huskies to post scores were Cassidy Duster and Autumn Guseman who placed 11th and 12th with cards of 64 and 73.
Washington Invitational
The Huskies took part in the Washington Girls Golf Invitational last Monday and ended the day with a runner-up finish in a field of six.
Lisbon won the 18-hole invite with a first place score of 351 with Highland taking second with 374.
Eryn Jackson, a senior from Lisbon, shot the low score of the Invite with 82. Highland was led by a runner-up finish from Emersyn Schultz who shot 83.
Other Huskies to contribute to the team score was Adisyn Prottsman who placed fifth with 93, Adeline Krotz placing sixth with 97, and Joslyn Prottsman placing eight with 101.
Up next for Highland is competing in the annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference Tournament taking place at Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington on May 12.
