Parker and Mason Shalla showed their steers and took home ribbons last month at the National Western Stock Show, held Jan. 11-26 in Denver, Colorado. The sons of Nic and Jayna Shalla of Riverside, the boys are both members of the Riverside Ramblers 4-H Club.
Parker’s steer won Class 2. Mason exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer, which won Class 7, and then went on to win Reserve Grand Champion Overall Market Steer.
Mason was honored to then be able to take his steer to the Brown Palace hotel in downtown Denver where his steer was on display in the lobby. Over 2300 people came through the hotel to have a picture with the steer, named Bear.
That same day, Mason’s steer was auctioned off at the National Western auction.
