Shiloh summer session starts

Shiloh’s annual summer camp starts Saturday, June 26, when guests arrive at the church conference facility just south of Kalona.

Steve Lafaurie, representative for Shiloh ministries, said, “This year it is our privilege to host more than 400 persons from Living Word Fellowship churches throughout the United States, Canada and even Brazil.”

The season includes a family camp that runs through July 5 and two youth camps. Prayer and worship services, recreation on the 200-acre grounds, tours of Kalona and other areas throughout southeast Iowa, a golf tournament at the Kalona Golf Course and the spectacular annual Independence Day musical celebration and fireworks in the outdoor amphitheater are among the many planned activities.

The amphitheater show is Saturday, July 3, and is open to the public.

The first two week-youth camp runs concurrent with the family camp and a session starts July 10, ending July 23. More than 100 young adults, ages 12-18, will spend time with Bible studies, worship services, workshops, recreation and special projects to improve Shiloh grounds, a Kalona community service project and field trips to historical locations in Iowa.

Amy Rogness, one of Shiloh’s youth ministers, says, “I feel that this will be one of our best years yet. Our session is packed full of memorable experiences, awesome times with the Lord and a time to get to know one another. They are going to have a blast.”
