The Mid-Prairie School District has received the report from an independent audit conducted by Hunt, Kain & Associates, P.C. certified public accountants, of Oskaloosa into funds missing from various Kalona Elementary School accounts, concessions account and PTA accounts. The audit verifies the previous findings from an investigation conducted by Superintendent Gordon Cook, Cook said in a release Tuesday.
A copy of the audit report has been sent to the Washington County Attorney for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The county attorney was unavailable for comment about possible legal action.
The audit reviewed the following accounts: Kalona Elementary PTA accounts, pop vending machine receipts, Party Time fund raising proceeds, payment to a credit card company, registration fees, Memory Book (Kalona Elementary School Yearbook) account and Mid-Prairie High School activities concessions.
Copies of the report may be obtained at the Mid-Prairie District’s Central Office, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The copies are available upon request and payment of a copy fee.
