Summer events kick-off in Kalona

Cyclists gathered for an early morning start Saturday, May 11 at the Kalona Historical Village for the 100km Kalona Horseshoe cycling race, which traversed gravel roads and trails throughout the area, giving those who love to climb the opportunity to tackle 4500 ft. of elevation.

The Kalona Farmer’s Market began its season on Saturday, May 11 on the downtown streets. A variety of vendors offered handmade and homemade gifts at the Mother’s Day-themed market.

Kalona Optimist Club members cooked omelets made-to-order Saturday, May 11 at Kalona United Methodist Church. For those who favored a sweet start to their day, iced cinnamon rolls were also on offer.
