When Washington County voters consider the statewide election on two state constitutional amendments in June, they also will decide if the local E911 may have more funds.
A proposal to add 50 cents to the existing telephone line surcharge will be on the county ballot, said E911 Committee Chairman Owen White. If passed, the move will provide a total of $l.50 (per telephone line) for the service.
All funds will be used to update communication equipment for emergency services, said White.
In total, the move would mean an additional $6 per year per telephone customer.
The E911 service has no other source of funding, White said.
