Too Over Par first in Kalona Golf women’s league

Too Over Par, Chris Hedlund of Iowa City and Linda Barton of Lone Tree, finished atop of the standings for the Kalona Golf Club women’s league.

Too Over Par finished with a score of 20.0. Second place went to Schlabaugh Sluggers, Julie and Jane Schlabaugh with a 19.5 and third went to the team Personal Sunshine, Jacque Wertz and Linda Marie, with a 19.0. Low gross for the year went to Wertz, Barton, and Jill Kelley with a 43 while Barton and Ann Parker recorded the best low net scores of the summer, both with a 26.

The final women’s league standings are: (1) Too Over Par, 20.0; (2) Schlabaugh Sluggers, 19.5; (3) Personal Sunshine, 19.0; (4)(tie) Farmers Supply, 18.0; Financial Resources, 18.0; Peggy’s Place, 18.0; Slicin’ Sues’, 18.0; (8) Supershine, 17.5; (9) Farmers Savings Bank, 17.0; (10) ELM Service, 16.5; (11) Yotty’s Hardware, 16.0; (12) Wildwood, 14.5; (13) Stutsman’s, 12.5; (14) Edward Jones, 11.0; (15)(tie) Kalona News, 10.0; Kalona Standard, 10.0; (17) Yotty’s Ice Cream, 3.5; (18) Life Investors, 2.0.

Kalona Golf Men’s League

Kalona Standard maintained its lead over Yotty’s after last Wednesday’s round in the men’s golf league at Kalona Golf Course.

Kalona Standard has 32.5 points to Yotty’s 25.5. Yoder Tax was third with 24.0 points. Fin & Feather and Supershine tied for fourth with 23.5 points.

Dave Harland shot a low gross round of 35 for nine holes and Paul Miller was low net with 29.

The complete league standings as of Aug. 4 are:

(1) Kalona Standard, 32.5; (2) Yotty’s, 25.5; (3) Yoder Tax, 24.0; (4)(tie) Fin & Feather, 23.5; Supershine, 23.5; (6) Farmers Savings Bank, 23.0; (7) Kalona Truck & Tractor, 21.0; (8) Farmer’s Supply, 19.0; (9) Agri King, 18.5; (10) Hills Bank, 17.0; (11) Razors Edge, 16.0; (12) Lone Tree, 15.5; (13) Hochstetler Insurance, 15.0; (14)(tie)Hard Luck, 14.0; Kalona Builders, 14.0; (16) Sodbusters, 13.0.

Wellman Golf League

Stump Concrete leads the standings for the Wellman Golf League. League standings after play on Aug. 3 are:

(1) Stump Concrete, 29.5; (2) Wellman Produce, 21.5; (3) Hubbard Feed, 21.0; (4) Hosties, 18.5; (5) Auto Cool, 17.5; (6)(tie) Wellman Federal, 16.0; Buckwalter Motors, 16.0; (8) Hills Bank, 15.0; (9) Slagle Pharmacy, 14.0; (10) Gretter Motors, 11.0.

Wellman Couples League

Results from Aug. 6: (1)(tie) Dick and Bonnie Durst, 25; Mike Steckley and Brenda Reece, 25; (3) Heather Fox and Dave Kelley, 27; (4) Ray and Diane Spicher, 28; (5)(tie) Tracy and Lori Owens, 30; Bob and Virginia Jacobs, 30; Tony and Jean Redlinger, 30.

Optimist golf

Rich Grimm carded a four-over-par 40 for the low individual score at the 31st annual Kalona Optimist Kalona Open golf tournament July 29.

Grimm’s 40 aided his team as they won the team title. He was joined by Ed Lee Miller, Emil Schlabaugh and Pete Schlabaugh.

North Liberty finished second in the team tourney, while Council Bluffs finished third.

Other awards from the men’s tournament went to Aaron Wordenburg of North Liberty (long drive), Clint Bouman of North Liberty (longest putt) and Bill Oleson of North Liberty (most golf).

In the ladies event, North Liberty won the team title with Lore Meyer and Marty Wordenburg, each of North Liberty, tying for the low individual score. Marti Laddel, also of North Liberty, earned the most golf award.
