Robin Hennes of the Amana Convention & Visitors Bureau in Amana is the guest speaker for the noon meeting of the Kalona Area Chamber of Commerce Monday, March 29, in the downtown Chamber Building.
Hennes will present the film, Hospitality Training which was purchased jointly by the local Chamber and the Amana group.
The luncheon, which is open to the public, will be catered by Edie Kemp of The Carriage House.
Other agenda items for the meeting will be a discussion of the Chamber-sponsored Favorite Wallhanging Show, set for April 23-24 in the Chamber Building. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
The show is an open category, with no entry larger than 54” on any side, and awards are given to the entries voted as favorites by the visitors who attend the show.
Volunteers are needed to staff the show. Shifts are three hours each and those interested in assisting should contact Jan Peterseim or the Chamber office.
The Chamber show coincides with the annual Kalona Quilt Show & Sale that is held in the Kalona Community Center.
This year, there also will be a Memoirs of Laura special quilt seminar at Ellen’s Sewing Center Thursday, April 22, from 9 a.m. -3 p.m. As the name implies, the session deals with designs that were done by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The seminar also will include stories about Wilder.
For more information all Ellen’s Sewing Center, 656-3303.
Besides the Wallhanging Show, the Chamber sponsors the annual Kalona days in June.
