Following an 0-2-1 season start, Mid-Prairie’s girls soccer team is on a roll.
Brooklyn Schneider scored the first three goals of her high school career Monday and the Golden Hawks drilled Monticello 6-1 for their third consecutive win.
Mid-Prairie has outscored three opponents 16-2 in the last week.
The Golden Hawks (3-2-1) go after their fourth straight win Thursday at Cedar Valley Christian (1-1), then return home next Monday to face West Branch in Wellman.
Schneider had a career-high 7 shots and also added an assist.
Lydia Beachy, Meadow Flynn and freshman Damayanti Banuelos Ortega added goals.
Goalkeepers Niva Helmuth and Ruth Whitthoft shared halves in the net for the win, combining for 5 saves.
Mid-Prairie 4,
Columbus 1
Kyla Karnes scored three goals, leading the Golden Hawks to a 4-1 victory over Columbus on April 10 in Muscatine.
Meadow Flynn added a goal for the Golden Hawks and Brooklyn Schneider had an assist.
Karnes and Flynn each had a team-high 3 shots.
Ruth Whitthoft had three saves in goal.
Janelle Jimenez scored Columbus’ only goal.
Mid-Prairie 6,
Central Lee 0
Lydia Beachy and Meadow Flynn each scored twice April 8 at Central Lee as the Golden Hawks won their first game of the season.
The Golden Hawks, who had been held to one goal in three previous games, scored four times in the first half to take control.
Avery Helmuth and Kassidi Greiner added goals for Mid-Prairie.
Ruth Whitthoft had two saves to record a shutout.
Mid-Prairie 1,
West Liberty 1
Lydia Beachy scored Mid-Prairie’s first goal of the season and the Golden Hawks held on for a 1-1 girls soccer tie against West Liberty on April 7.
Beachy, a senior, scored on a penalty kick in the first half.
The Comets scored a game-tying goal in the second half, and that’s how the game ended because no overtimes are held this year in Iowa girls or boys soccer due to a rule change.
Niva Helmuth, a junior goalkeeper, had 16 saves.
Meadow Flynn and Ruth Whitthoft each had 2 shots for Mid-Prairie.
The Golden Hawks (0-2-1) will face Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Muscatine Soccer Complex.
Solon 5
Mid-Prairie 0
Solon scored three times in the first half of an April 4 game in Wellman and cruised to a 5-0 win over the Golden Hawks.
It was the first win of the season for the Spartans (1-2) and their 12th straight over the Golden Hawks.
Sofia Ortega, a Solon junior, scored three goals.
Grinnell 6,
Mid-Prairie 0
Grinnell freshman Katelyn Sieck scored four goals as the Golden Hawks fell 6-0 in their season-opening game April 1 in Grinnell.
Avery Helmuth, a Mid-Prairie junior, led the Golden Hawks with 4 shots and senior Lydia Beachy had 3.
Taylor Smith and Clair Manatt added goals for Grinnell.
