Vesta Ann Mast was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Chester and Emma (Kauffman) Yoder. She was baptized in her youth and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and remained faithful until her death. Vesta passed away peacefully at her home after a period of declining health, on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at the age of 85 years, 10 months, 7 days.
Vesta was united in marriage to Lloyd S. Mast on Sept. 25, 1958. To this union were born seven sons and three daughters.
Vesta is survived by her husband: Lloyd; 10 children: James (Delores) of Leroy, Mich., John Almon (Elmina) of Roseville, Ill., Marlin (Miriam) of Brighton, Herbert (Myrna) of Reedsville, Wisc., Lavern (Velma) of Kalona, Keith of Monroe, Wisc., Emmaletta (Edward Ropp) of Kalona, Esther Lou (Marlin Ropp) of Kalona, Eileen (Mahlon Ropp) of Kalona, and Vernon (Anna Marie) of Monroe, Wisc.; 61 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Minerva Borntrager of Kalona and Clarabell (Stanley) Miller of Muscoda, Wisc.; two brothers: Vernon (Inez) Yoder and Robert (Phebe) Yoder, both of Kalona.
Preceding Vesta in death are her parents; three grandchildren: Paul Wendall Mast, Elnora Fern Mast and Jewel Ropp (stillborn); one great-grandchild: Kenneth Earl Troyer; and one brother-in-law: Marvin Borntrager.
A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at the Mahlon Ropp residence. Visitation days and hours are as followed 2-4 then 6-8, Tuesday Oct. 25, then all day Wednesday, Oct. 26 starting at 10 a.m. all at the Mahlon Ropp residence, 2422 110th St. Kalona. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Vesta and her family.
We as a family want to thank everyone that has been so helpful and supportive in prayer, in visiting, singing, writing letters and many other expressions and deeds of kindness during the time of her declining health. An extra special thank you to her regular care givers.
