4th grade – “What is your favorite Patriotic Holiday and Why?”

1st Place: Brooklyn Thomann

On Veterans Day we celebrate that holiday because some of the veterans died. We pray for the veterans that passed away. Because those that fought in the war are trying to save us from danger. So we should be thanking them. Because if we did not have veterans, we might not have a good state. If we did not have a good state then it would not be fun. They help us by just saving us from danger. If we did not have veterans then I don’t know what we would do.

2nd Place: Dereck Frankenhauser

I like the Fourth of July the most. Because I like fireworks and my family does too. I also like it because my dad was in the Army. I also like it because my dad’s a veteran because he fought in a war. I like it mostly because of the fireworks to celebrate with honor. I want to go to the Army because my parents were in the Army. My parents are veterans and I want to be like them. Also my dad broke his toe in the Army. Me and my family celebrate Fourth of July we used to shoot fireworks but now it’s illegal.

5th grade – “I am Proud to be an American because…”

1st Place: Jillian Stransky

I am proud to be an American because we won the wars. Also everyone has their rights and wrongs. We all deserve respect. So we shouldn’t fight. We all are one community. Together we can accomplish anything! We all look different but it doesn’t mean anything. We all treat each other the same way. We all like different things. We don’t judge anyone about what they like and dislike things. We all are at different levels in learning and you don’t judge if they are very smart or not very smart. We all don’t like the same teams but doesn’t mean we should argue. We all should like each other no matter what we do and what we like to do. We all have passions we want. That is why I am proud to be an American.

2nd Place: McKenzie McElroy

I am proud to be an American because I believe that America has the most freedom in the world, I am more than elated for that. I am sitting down right now writing this and if it was not for people who fought and are still fighting for freedom I probably would not even be here. So, I would like to thank all of the heroes that have helped us through the hard times and have sacrificed their lives for their country and family. The flag, oh the flag, it blow beautifully in the wind. The fifty stars and thirteen stripes, they are so beautiful! I am elated of being an American.
