Victor Martin Strabala, 86, of Hills, died June 20, 1999, in Pleasantview Home, Kalona, following a lengthy illness.

Services were Wednesday, June 23, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hills, with the Reverend Lou Leonhardt officiating. Burial was in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Riverside.

Born November 11, 1912, in Johnson County, he was the son of Charles E. and Agnes (Schnoebelen) Strabala. He was a 1930 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Riverside and married Clara Metz October 14, 1936 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bauer.

Mr. Strabala farmed in the Johnson County area for his entire life. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hills.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Strabala, Hills; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Regina Strabala of Davenport, Janet and Sylvester Fritz of Brighton, Shelia and Sam Gerot, Riverside, and Lenore and Gustavo Manrique, Hills; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin Strabala of Kalona, Victor R. and Margaret Strabala, Oxford, and Joan Strabala of Peoria, Illinois; one sister, Vivian Gauthier of Phoenix, Arizona; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Martin Strabala, and four brothers, Edward Strabala, Omer Strabala, John Strabala and Cecil Strabala.
