Deadline to register in person for the March 16 special election in the Mid-Prairie School District is Friday, March 5 at 5 p.m. Any mail-in registration received after March 5 must be postmarked March 1 to be eligible for the March 16 election.
The special election is specifically for passage of an Instructional Support Levy.
Residents of the district in Washington County who are not registered may do so at the county auditor’s office in the courthouse in Washington, Johnson County and Iowa County residents of the district may register at their respective county auditor’s offices. Registration may also be done at some city clerk offices or at Department of Transportation driver’s license stations and certain other state agencies.
The Washington County Auditor’s office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. March 5. Hours of other offices vary, so calling ahead is advised.
Registered voters wishing to vote by absentee ballot may do so in the county auditor’s office weekdays except election day, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by sending a signed request to the County Auditor, Box 889, Washington, Iowa 52353 indicating voting residence and address to which ballot should be mailed.
