Washington Supervisors OK personnel changes

Posted

Main business for the supervisors on Tuesday, Aug. 24, was eight personnel changes, accepting a total of $950 in donations to the K-9 Unit, renewing a liquor license and learning of a WEDG workforce type countywide survey. All was done within 18 minutes.

More than half of the changes involved the county sheriff’s department which “has a couple leaving to go south,” said Chief Deputy Sheriff  Shaun Ellington. As a result, some personnel will move from part-time to full-time, he explained. All changes follow:

• Jacob Baughman, jailer, from casual part-time to full-time, effective August 24;

• Stephanie Patterson, jailer, casual part-time to full-time, effective August 24;

• Michael Cope, jailer and reserve deputy, termination, effective August 22;

• Mike Yoder, jail shift supervisor, termination, effective August 24;

• Christine Glosser, Public Health Program Coordinator, The Family Connection, termination, effective August 30;

• Jessica Haro-Ponce, Public Health/Partner Educator, The Family Connection, termination August 30. (The changes for Glosser and Haro-Ponce are part of the change from Washington county joining with Henry County for the service);

•Katie McQuiggin, Washington County Communications, hired effective September 7 at $19.01 hourly to go to $20.01 by the third quarter.

The board acknowledged two donations to the K-9 Unit: $600 from an estate and $350 from Carmella, Tom and Mary Ulin and approved renewal of a liquor license for the Washington Golf and Country Club.

During the open discussion at the meeting’s end, WEDG Executive Director Mary Audia announced that WEDG is undertaking a workforce type study in the county, to be completed by early November. Aside from WEDG assistance, funding, “has come from some of the cities,” said Audia. Survey results will be provided to the board.
