WCRF awards $3,435,693 in spring grant cycle

The Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded $3,000,000 of the total $3,435,693 in grants to the YMCA of Washington County for its new aquatic (indoor swimming pool) project at their meeting at the Wooden Wheel Vineyards event center on May 18.

There was not a formal presentation to the grant recipients. 

“We plan to have a reception in the Event  Center at the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort on November 16 for all Spring and Fall grant award winners,” said WCRF Executive Director Patty Koller.

Following is a list of all grant recipients for the spring grant cycle, according to executive director Patty Koller:

1. Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere Foundation (GIVE); Golf Scramble meal and entertainment for Injured Veterans, $10,000.

2. Washington County Emergency Management Agency; Washington County Drone Project, $11,916.

3. YMCA of Washington County, YMCA Phase II Indoor Aquatic Center, $3,000,000.

4. City of Hills, Iowa, Hills Fire Department SCBA Air Packs, $45,378.

5. WCDC, Inc., Door to Independence, $5,000.

6. City of Ainsworth, Fire Dept., New UTV/Polaris Ranger, $7,227.

7. Sigourney Fire/Rescue, Battery Operated Extrication Tools, $43,271.

8. Table to Table Food Distribution Network, Distribution Software Upgrade, $10,000.

9. Washington Area Soccer Program, soccer scoreboard project, $6,513.

10. City of Riverside, Railroad Park Project, $100,044.

11. The Englert Theatre, Iowa City, new projector for The Englert Theatre, $45,967.

12. Washington Free Public Library Foundation, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, $6,000.

13. City of Wellman, Wellman Heritage Society, $7,862.

14. Opera House Inc., stage floor, exterior doors, and electrical, $33,985.

15. American Red Cross, Emergency Response Vehicle, $100,000.

16. Columbus Community Schools; Columbus Community Girls’ Basketball Program, $1,000.

17. Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts Of America, Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE), equipment, $1,530.

Total, $3,435,693.

The 2022 Fall Grant Cycle applications will open on July 1st and close on August 25th, according to Koller.
