Wellman Garden Club had their first meeting of 2022 at Wellman’s Senior Center, Thursday, Feb. 17. The club enjoyed a delicious chicken alfredo lunch together, after which President Marilyn Powell called the meeting to order by reading a Helen Steiner Rice Valentine poem about friendship.
After a brief business meeting, there was a discussion about an old school clock in possession of one of our members. It was suggested that it could be restored and placed in the Smith Creek school as a wall hanging even though it is not a working timepiece.
The program was a virtual mystery tour of Wellman. Sally Whetstine passed around some 30 pictures taken around town. The seven members present enjoyed figuring out where the pictures had been taken, and found several hidden treasures we had never noticed. Some of the mystery photographs can be seen at thenews-ia.com
The next meeting will be at the Senior Center on Thursday, March 17 at 2 p.m. Ken Bender will talk about maple tree tapping. New members and guests are welcome to attend.
