Bill Tester of Parkview Manor presented the program this past Wednesday. He talked to the club about advanced directives, living wills and do not resuscitate directives.

Mark Schneider had the program this week. Upcoming program chairpersons are Herb Huber (July 21), Pat Freeman (July 28) and Bill Clarahan (August 4).

Upcoming dates - Rotary sponsored blood drive - July 26; Board meeting at 11:15 a.m. - August 4; District governor visits Wellman club - October 27.

Other news

In other club news:

• The club expressed condolences to the family of Don and Anita Randol on the death of Anita’s mother.

• For the month of May, the Wellman club trailed Corning in attendance with a 96.23 percent average but for the entire Rotary year, the Wellman club was well in front with a 96.36 percent average compared to Decatur County’s 92.62 percent rating for second place.

• The club contributed $12,150 to the Rotary Foundation according to Foundation chairman, Stan Barber. That results in an average of $357.35 per member. Thirteen new members joined the Wellman club this past year and 12 Paul Harris Fellows were awarded.

• The number of Rotarians in District 6000 stands at 4,542 as of May 15. Thirty-two clubs in the district report a positive growth in membership with Corydon leading the way with 25 percent growth. Nineteen clubs exceeded the three percent growth total.

The newest club from this past Rotary year was the club in Waukee. It was chartered June 24 with 20 members.

There was some negative news as 28 clubs lost in membership numbers.
