CENTRAL CITY

In the penultimate game of the regular season, the Lions went on the road to battle the Wildcats of Central City.

Getting the win on senior night, the Wildcats scored a dominant 62-8 victory over Lone Tree on Oct. 11.

Undefeated at home, this was the second highest scoring output for Central City this season with their season high being 82 points.

Central City became familiar with the end zone right away, putting 38 on the scoreboard in the first quarter while holding the Lions scoreless to take a commanding lead.

The Wildcats added to their lead by scoring eight points in each of the second, third, and fourth quarters to reach their eventual final score of 62. This was Central City’s six straight game where they scored 40 or more points.

Lone Tree avoided the shutout by scoring eight points of its own, a receiving TD by Domonic Garcia to go along with a succesful two-point play scored by Reece Holbrook, in the final quarter. The Lions have not been held scoreless in any game this season but their final score of eight points matches their season low.

As a team Central City found great success running the ball, finishing with 368 yards total rushing yards. Going for a team high 164 rushing yards on seven carries along with four TDs was senior Matthew Klostermann.

Through the air, the Wildcats were led by Kaleb Walker who completed four passes on five attempts for 77 yards and two TDs. Dashny Munyakazi led the team in receiving yards with 33, which he accomplished with one catch and it was also a TD.

On defense, Central City senior Colten Brown had a team high six total tackles and recovered a fumble. Nabbing an interception for the Wildcats was senior Nolan Gates, his first of the season.

Maddox Jondle , stepping into Lone Tree's starting QB role for the second time this season after an injury to Emmett Burke, completed 11 passes on 23 attempts for 130 yards, one TD, and one INT. Jondle was also the team's leading rusher, going for 73 yards on 16 carries.

Garcia and Holbrook led the  Lions as receivers, ending with 63 yards and 59 yards respectively.  On defense, Jack Patterson tallied a team high seven total tackles and Garcia grabbed his first INT of the season.

Up next for Lone Tree (2-5) is its regular season finale, a home game against the Easton Valley River Hawks (3-4) on Oct. 18.
