What is it about an owl that makes people think of wiseness? Why is it deemed a compliment to be considered as “wise as an owl”? Perhaps it has something to do with their ability to swivel their heads, enabling them to see in all directions without moving their body, thus helping to conceal their position from predators. Or perhaps it has something to do with their ability to decide just when to make an escape, as this one did a split second after this picture was taken.
