Hillcrest Academy continued its dominance on the cross country course when it hosted its home meet, the Hillcrest Invitational, on Tuesday, October 6.

Marie Yoder finished second for the Raven girls, while Troy Yoder finished fifth and Clavin Meller came in sixth on the boys’ side in a field loaded with 2A and 3A talent.

Yoder and Meller finishing back to back at the top of the ticket for Hillcrest has become a common sight, as the duo has worked together to net top placement after top placement. On Tuesday, they led the boys’ team to a seventh-place finish, with every team in front of them besides English Valleys, who knocked the Ravens off by a single point, coming from a 2A or larger school.

Other Raven boys’ varsity finishes included Jaxson Brokaw in 48th, Isaac Beachy 66th, Danny Meyer 81st, Paxton Wilson 89th, and Braden Hartsock 90th.

Yoder’s second-place finish came behind only Washington’s Emma Horak. Yoder finished with a time of 21:46.

Adia Scott and Karina Bourha made their first and only cross country appearances of the season, per Hillcrest head coach Martin Gingerich, finishing 58th and 64th, respectively. The run was Bourha’s first career race. Amelia Vigneron finished 63rd with a time of 34:40.
