JoAnn F. Murdock, 74, of rural Riverside, passed from this life Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at her home. Per her wishes, her body will be cremated, and no service will be held. A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Riverside VFW Post 6414, Riverside. A general memorial fund has been established. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
JoAnn F. (Jenn) Murdock was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Iowa City, the daughter of Joseph and Rita Mary (Ruth) Jenn. She graduated from Regina High School in 1967. She worked at the University of Iowa in the Otolaryngology Department and later in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was united in marriage to John Greenwood on June 18, 2000. JoAnn enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, playing bridge, collecting antique perfume bottles, and attending her grandson’s sporting events.
Survivors include her husband: John; daughter: Melissa (Todd) Thomas; grandsons: Caleb and Jarron; six sisters: Eileen Falls, Anita (Ben) Norman, Joyce (Ralph) Roper, Donna (Randy) Arthur, Linda (Allen) Beeler, and Mary Kay (Tom) Hora; two brothers: Tom(Diane) Jenn, and Steve (Chris) Jenn; two brothers-in-law: Bill Fortune and Jerry Murphy; sister-in-law: Judy Newsom; special friend: Nancy Horrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding JoAnn in death were her parents; her sisters: Kathy Fortune and Beth Murphy; brother-in-law: Bob Falls; nephew: Jeremy Jenn; niece: Angela Roper; and great-nephew: Colton Allen.
