KALONA
In a Friday night showdown, the Lone Tree Lady Lions beat the Hillcrest Ravens 60-27. The win gavethe Lady Lions a 13-1, respectable record.
The Ravens on the other hand dropped to 4-11, still a much improved season from a year ago. The Ravens seemed to have no luck on their side during the local matchup against the Lady Lions.
Shots flickered and rolled to and fro but yet never managed to sneak through the net whenever Hillcrest found a rhythm.
Lone Tree continued their excellence in a season where they've lost just once. And everything clicked for the Lady Lions. The deadly Finley Jacque scored 13 points, surpassing the 250 point plateau on the year.
But she did not need to be deadly for the Lady Lions to steamroll the competition. It was a team effort, including a buzzer beater by junior Hayden Yoder in the first quarter, a surprise three-point-shot to roll momentum into the second.
