On Oct. 31, nine Mid-Prairie FFA members packed up and headed for Indianapolis to take part in the National FFA Convention. Members who attended were Tate Bombei, Elliott Debler, Peighton Ford, Carly Nickell, Charlotte Sieren, Madelyn Sieren, Blake Peck and Allie Whetstine. Mid-Prairie FFA Advisor Elsa Schmidt was the chaperone for the trip.
On Tuesday, members toured the Fair Oaks Farm, one of the largest working dairy and swine farms in the country. Members toured the dairy and swine operations and learned more about each type of production of livestock.
On Wednesday morning, Mid-Prairie FFA members toured the Indianapolis Zoo. Members attended the dolphin show and then participated in a special dolphin experience. Later in the day, members attended the Opening Session, which highlighted the keynote speaker, Juan Bendaña.
On Thursday, members then visited the Career Show and Expo, where they received information from colleges, ag businesses and other organizations associated with agriculture. Members then attended a showing of the World’s Toughest Rodeo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
On Friday, Mid-Prairie FFA members attended the fourth general session where they heard former National FFA President, Corey Flournoy and National FFA Western Region Vice President Ryan Williamson speak. Members returned home following this session.
