With warmer temperatures and snow-free backroads, now is a great time to check out the new Amish grocery store, Golden Valley Ranch, in rural Kalona. The spacious new retailer celebrated their grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 20.
If you’re a fan of Stringtown Grocery on Hwy 1, you’ll immediately notice a family resemblance between the two shops when you enter Golden Valley Ranch. Filled with bulk foods including cereals, spices, candies, pastas, and baking ingredients, the store also contains a cold room filled with meats, cheeses, butter, and dairy, as well as crates of fresh fruits and vegetables. Staff is happy to help you with their many offerings in the freezer area.
The word ‘Ranch’ isn’t just a name; from the outdoor signage and ponderosa-style building to the interior rustic log beams and horse iconography, you’ll feel that aesthetic all the way through.
Golden Valley Ranch is located at 2032 110th St., Kalona. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
