Terrence J. “Terry” Garvin, 68, of Iowa City, passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at his home in Iowa City, following a sudden illness. A memorial mass will be held Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages.  The family will greet friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., a rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established for St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Interment will be at a later date in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Marcus, Iowa.

Terry was born March 19, 1955, in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Merlin F. and Lillian (Kohn) Garvin. He graduated from Marcus Community High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Mt. Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. He worked in customer service at NCS and CMS for 30 years. Terry was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he was a 3rd Degree Knight. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Terry was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He also enjoyed following his great nieces’ school activities, 4-H events, and was always in the stands at their athletic events, musicals, and plays at Highland Community School District.

Survivors include five siblings: Larry Garvin of Marcus, Iowa, Ron (Jackie) Garvin of Tucson, Arizona, Marilyn Goody of Riverside, Dennis (Jean) Garvin of Hales Corners, Wisconsin, and Jane (Steve) Edwards of Marshalltown; seven nieces and nephews: Rebecca Garvin of Tucson, Rachel (Andy) Cerny of Riverside, Mark Goody of Riverside, Jake (Cassie) Edwards of Story City, Patrick (Jeunesse) Garvin of Milwaukee, Brittny (Garrett) Brown of Union, Iowa, and Michael (Fiancee Anna) Garvin of New Berlin, Wisconsin; and seven great-nieces and nephews: Kayla Cerny, Kelsi Cerny, Courtney Goody, Dale Edwards, Carli Edwards, Stinson Brown, and Lindon Brown; and numerous cousins.

Preceding Terry in death were his parents; brother-in-law: Richard Goody; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
