The 2020 Courage Ride, which this year is being done virtually due to COVID-19, began this past Saturday and goes through Aug. 15.
The annual event is a fundraiser to aid in the fight against sarcoma cancer.
The fundraiser is held in honor of Seth Bailey, who played basketball at Iowa Mennonite School (now Hillcrest Academy) in Kalona on a prosthetic leg after being diagnosed with sarcoma cancer. He died in 2003 at age 25.
All proceeds from Courage Ride benefit the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Research Program.
The event has raised more than $610,000 since the first ride in 2005.
This year’s registration cost is $25 per person; free for kids 12 and under. Route maps cover distances of 5, 18, 36, 51, 85 and 101 miles.
