Why I’m caucusing for DeSantis

As a Christian, husband, father, and American, I am deeply concerned about our country’s direction. We are at a crossroads, faced with the decision to vote for a generational leader, or a man who allowed our country to flounder in 2020.

Besides the likelihood that former President Trump will be convicted of crimes he didn’t commit, and as a convicted felon would likely be removed from the ballot in some states, there are five reasons why I am caucusing for Ron DeSantis instead of Donald Trump.

1. Life. It’s possible to not be pro-life and still sometimes do pro-life things, but I challenge anyone to find someone who is truly pro-life and will EVER criticize any pro-life bills. When Trump said Florida’s heartbeat bill was a “terrible mistake,” I believe he was revealing where he really stands on the issue.

2. Covid/vaccines. In 2020, DeSantis quickly reopened Florida (my family vacationed there that June, and everything was open, with no mask requirements); Trump permitted Fauci and company to run America to the ground. It was Trump, not Biden, who started Operation Warp Speed, which injected millions of Americans with an untested substance.

3. Economy. Florida's debt decreased under DeSantis, while Trump added 23% of all debt in US history. It’s easy to wail about “Bidenomics,” but Trump still holds the record in debt added.

4. Marriage. DeSantis took on Disney's woke agenda, while Trump hosted the Log Cabin Republicans at his resort and said, “We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard.”

5. Leadership. Trump allowed himself and America to be continuously sabotaged because of who he surrounded himself with; DeSantis has taken a state with a Republican voter deficit of 300k and made it a 500k voter lead. That doesn’t happen without strong leadership.
