Regular meeting of the Kalona City Council with Mayor Robe presiding. Motion was made by Spitzer, and seconded by G Schmidt, to approve the agenda, with all voting yes
Council members present: J Schmidt, G Schmidt, Spitzer, and Beisheim. Bender was absent.
Motion was made by Spitzer and seconded by G Schmidt approving the minutes of the meeting on December 4, 2023, With all voting yes, the minutes were approved and published.

Public Forum:
Chad Ellis with Washington County Sheriff’s Office was present for general discussion, and to share the calls for service from November 2023, and answer council questions.
Mayor Mark Robe was sworn in as the re-elected Mayor of Kalona. Gregory Schmidt was sworn in as a re-elected council member. Jenelle Bender was previously sworn in, but due to a scheduling conflict, she was absent from the meeting. Each term is for another 4 years of elected service.
Consideration was held by the council regarding an application from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for street Speed Signs. Currently, the DOT has a Speed Feedback Program for cities to apply for solar digital speed signs. Motion was made by Spitzer, and seconded by J Schmidt, directing staff to complete the application. With all voting yes, the motion carried.
